i wanted to get this out of the speaker thread.

So far

Rotel: good but $texas
NHT: no one has said anything but the specs look good and they're not too bad especially for the power output
Yamaha: not so great sounding of a receiver but stable to 4 ohms
Marantz: were we talking reciever or amp/processor set.?


now i'm wondering about
sherwood-newcastle ... they just came out with an hdmi 1.3 receiver for 1600 i was wondering if anyone has opinions on them for sound quality

denon out of the question? im pretty sure they have at least some that have hdmi and theyre high current also.

this actually seems like a better amp... via the numbers but has a lower star rating....

i mean it is ugly but.. i don't know if that matters.

^^My friend has that amp. He has it bi-amped to the front speakers and the other channel left powers the center. Then he re-directed the amps in the Rotel receiver to power the rear speakers. Right now hooked up to Energy Veritas speakers. The sound is absolutely amazing.
