I got a Linksys wireless Router for Christmas and have that up and running and my fiance's dad gave me a NETOPIA TER/GUSB-N1 Wireless USB Adapter for my desktop computer, that is downstairs away from the other computer broadcasting the signal.

My wireless card is working bc it is receiving a signal but it won't allow me to get on the internet. It says the signal is excellent or good at times, and I'm wondering if there is something else I need to imput to make this work?? Any help would be appreciated!

Make sure you computer has the proper IP address from the router.... typically: 192.168.1.***

Also, make sure your router is getting a proper IP address from you cable model/DSL box. It will be a non-192 address. If your router has the proper IP address from the modem, try resetting the modem by pulling the power plug on it, counting to 20, and reconnecting it. Post here again if that doesn't work.

Call the free customer service center for either your router or your adapter. They'll walk you through everything if you aren't comfortable doing what ^ said on your own.
