What is the deal with student seating at basketball games? Do you actually have to sit in the assigned seat on the ticket, or is it GA?

assigned. though moving around within a section is not hard if you're not a dick about it.

is steve the older fat guy that checks tickets in 126 / 127 or is he the taller guy who stops you from going from 126 / 127 over to the sideline seats?

bald guy is awesome

if he sees that you're in an awful seat and there are better seats that are empty, he'll come over and tell you to move over to the better seat

for the alabama game i had a ticket for sideline, but my friends were in 126, so i went down the steps for the sideline, but walked through the aisle and i guess steve was halting some other people so i was able to get over there

yeah that guy is a straight-up dick. for the earlier games this season, he told us we couldn't stand up on the left and right sides of the student section because there were people in the regular seating who couldn't see the game. i looked back and there was this old asshole who turned into a pointer every time someone stood up, even if just for a second. then his fatass attack dog (aka steve) would head on over and tell people to sit down. dick.

but yeah, i've made it past him a couple times too.

this has been covered about 1000 times in other threads, but the reason we don't have GA for bball is that sections are not clearly defined, and LTRs overextend into student sections. People pay good money for seats that are occasionally right in the middle of "student sections" and they would raise hell if some student was sitting in their seats.
And "student sections" are not always the same, so the system can't handle moving students around for every game an making it GA while tracking assigned pay seats

All those other reasons are fine, but "the sections are not clearly defined" is bunk. The sections are very clearly defined if you have a brain and are familiar with numerals.

As for "look like you know where you're going," that principle does indeed work at many a time and place, but not at the time and place where the guy at the bottom of the stairs has been instructed to inspect your ticket.

nah, this actually works a lot. i haven't sat in my assigned seat once since i go w/ different people and we don't get seats together. i actually got mid-court seats for the michigan game by just acting like i belonged. i understand it would be tough to make it GA, but not if we made it standing room only in some student sections. it would mean more student tix and improve the atmosphere.

Couldnt you just photoshop the part that says where you sit? Of course you'd have to make sure you put a student section. I'm guessing you would get caught if your ticket said "Bench 12".

That's bullshit and could be done without much of a problem. All that has to be maintained is a list of the sections and that could be edited and the system could use that for each game. If there are regular seats in the middle of a student section put a reserved tape on them.

Steve isn't the ticket nazi. The bald guy that looks like a Nazi is the ticket nazi. Steve let's you sit where you want. The game in which you are reffering to he had people who wanted to stand in the middle and the ones who wanted to sit on the 2 sides. he always lets us move down and never comes and messes with people. However the one you guys like(the ticket nazi who looks like a nazi) wouldn't let 5 of us stand in a place where there were 4 chairs. Has to be as many people as chairs. BS. steve would let you cram in. instead 2 of them had to move somewhere else. I always pray for 125-127 and not 110-113 because in 125-127 your near the dance team and steve works that side, the other side your near the cheerleaders and band.

it wasn't just one game, it was multiple. and it wasn't students who wanted to sit on the two sides, its was old people in the seats behind the 2 sides who wanted us to sit. but if you people say the fat guy is ok, i'll give him a second chance
