There are no more campus spots left. If my gf buys an off campus spot (she lives in an apt, I live in a dorm) can we add my car to it (which is registered to a different person) after she buys it?
Anyone done this before?
Since it's my gf, the usual permit selling problem of a ticket showing up on someone else's bill won't apply.
Let's beat the man on this one guys. He can't hold us down. 1/12/2007 11:33:32 AM |

just because she lives off campus doesn't mean she's automatically eligible for a permit. 1/12/2007 11:37:42 AM |

Is this through NCSU? I know for my on-campus permit there was some way to login to the transportation website and basically "add a vehicle", for cases of buying a new car or owning two different cars you want to park on campus, I guess. I've been through a few vehicles the last couple years and they still have my original in their system. From what I can remember, you just needed the insurance information and license plate, make, and model. 1/12/2007 11:43:25 AM |

When you say "off campus spot" do you mean Valpark or on campus parking for commuting students?
If you mean commuter student parking on campus try http://www2.acs.ncsu.edu/trans/forms/vehicleChange.html 1/12/2007 1:17:39 PM |

Campus Spots? I graduated 3 years ago and campus spots were impossible to get then too...its only going to get harder as more buildings go up. 1/12/2007 1:21:04 PM |

you say you live in a dorm . . . so i assume you want a spot near your dorm which you really won't be able to get unless your live on east campus and your gf can get a DC permit.
Did you try to get an S permit?
does your gf live more than a mile from campus? if not she won't be able to get a commuter permit 1/12/2007 1:54:24 PM |

I live less than a mile from campus and have a DC permit, I'm not sure if that's what ^ you mean by commuter or not.
As far as campus spots are concerned, just add your license plate to your gf's permit if she gets one on campus, as far as off campus... Not sure what you mean there? 1/12/2007 2:06:46 PM |

It's a mile radius from the intersection of Avent Ferry and Western unless it has changed since I was there, so I could be a mile or less than a mile from "campus" depending on which direction you live in. 1/12/2007 2:36:24 PM |

^^^a commuter would be anyone who lives off campus and drives to school. there used to be a requirement that to get an E, DC, or DD you had to live outside of a one mile radius to be elligible to get one . . . but i don't see that requirement on their website now so maybe they don't have it anymore 1/12/2007 4:38:01 PM |

I'm sincerely confused, transportation could not provide you any parking permits as a Junior? And here's the add a vehicle page: http://www2.acs.ncsu.edu/trans/forms/vehicleChange.html1/12/2007 11:09:52 PM |

1. you can indeed add your car to your gf's permit. however, you'll have to switch the permit between the cars depending on which one is being parked.
2. if you live on west campus, just get a S permit. it's half the price of an on-campus permit and walking the 5 minutes to the lot isnt a hassle unless you're using your car everyday 1/12/2007 11:11:28 PM |

If you are a junior and didn't get a permit you fucked yourself somewhere in the signing up process. I got a DC permit when I was a junior and the worst I've heard any commuter who was a junior getting was a commuter lot. If you live on campus as a junior and couldn't get a DE or DW then somehow it's your fault.

I hate to commit thread necromancy, but I have a problem. Transportation actually has assigned me a permit, and I have to pay for it online by 9:45pm on January 21. Which is all fine and dandy, except that when I go to log onto their system, it keeps telling me that I have put in the wrong id and password. The login is just my unity id, the password is my dob in the format of YYMMDD. I'm not illiterate, I'm not retarded, and I know when my own goddamn birthday is, but still their system insists on telling me that I have put in the wrong information. I only got the email today, have they not actually added me into their system yet? Or do I actually need to hop on over to the Transporation Office and bitch? 1/18/2007 11:28:23 PM |

I guess they're still underselling the DW permits like WHOA because there are always dozens of open spaces at the top of the Sullivan lot (the part that's DW, not C). 1/19/2007 1:06:22 AM |

Got one as a freshman, first semester right off the bat... with no problems... so I support this statement as well.
But I feel for you... I hate transportation too.
