you know that myth about 10 days after a thunderstorm you will get snow. Unless it drops about 30 degrees by Monday that shit is fucked.

The worst snows I ever saw in NC were always in January. Like in 2000 when we got, what, two feet overnight?

january 2000, got about 20 inches....

and the myth about snow 7-10 days after hearing thunder is just that... a myth

however, it does have SOME scientific reasoning...

often times, when you have a thunderstorm (and thus hear thunder) during winter, it is b/c of a very strong cold front ushering in a frigid mass of cold air...

you need cold air for frozen precip, that's where the myth comes from....

sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't...it is going to be very cold next week, highs in the 40s....but i haven't heard anything about frozen precip yet

I seem to remember getting a ton of snow in February and March of 2003.

to get cold enough to snow here, there cant be any moisture in the air

without the moisture, there is no snow/ice

^^^^ yeah, but just so you know... When people say things like "we can pretty much forget about <blank>" that usually indicates that there is a chance that it could still happen. I guess you were holding out on making the outright call of no snow in December on the off chance a time (and weather) machine is invented.
