not too bad for what it is, but still a little porky. it's comparable to other modern day muscle cars. iirc the new ones are around 3700lbs.

plenty of horsepower to move it also, times are respectable at high 12's/13 flat in the 1/4.

Damn, LOVE those wheels. Gorgeous aggressive exterior, and beautiful interior. Only problem is, in Australia, the same car produces over 400 hp, so why 360 in the US? Also very heavy, at 4,000 lbs.

6 litre V8
362 hp
391 lb-ft
3,995 lbs

Pontiac G8 GT

Here is the Aussie Holden HSV E-Series GTS that it is based on. (411 hp, 406 lb-ft)

Actually, sorry, the GTS above is tuned by HSV, the performance division of Holden. The regular one is below (Holden Commodore SS V), which is exactly like the Pontiac G8, and has the same power specs:

I actually think I like the G8 better than the Holden version; the Holden nose is too bland. Sharp car overall though, and I think it will sell well. Hopefully it will pave the way for Ford's corporate leadership to give us a version of the Aussie Falcon...

weird trunkline, but it's definitely the best Pontiac I've seen in a LOOOONG TIME. Very well designed on the exterior, and still faithful to the brand.

and for once I agree with OEPII1, those wheels are SICK

don't worry, jeremy clarkson will find a reason why the g8 gt is worse than the holden (and any other non-american company that gets a version)

Apparently Pontiac is getting a car from the Zeta platform that will be in the same bracket as Camaro. Think they should go for the GTO name, or the old standard Firebird? I prefer the screaming chicken myself.

they compared the three versions and the pontiac came in last. clarkson said something along the lines of, "i dont know how, but theyve found a way to mess things up"

Pontiac G8 GXP To Debut At New York Auto Show

LS3 6.2 litre V8
6-speed MANUAL
402 hp
402 lb-ft
0-60 mph in 4.7 sec
1/4 mile in 13 sec

Not bad, but the G8 GT (see grey car above) comes with 362 hp and 391 lb-ft.

I think this G8 GXP should have been tuned to produce around 450 hp, otherwise the 2 models are pretty close to each other in performance and power.

Quote :
"Making an appearance on the G8 options list for the first time is a six speed manual transmission. Both automatic and manual versions will come with a limited-slip differential. A Nürburgring tuned sport suspension and powerful Brembo brakes ensure the GXP has more sporting potential than anything Pontiac has made in decades. "

Pontiac G8 Sport Truck

Same engine and specs as the G8 GT.

(tons of pics)

Quote :
"more important even than the return of the truck-car to the General's fleet, is the news that this car will not be called the 2010 Pontiac G8 ST. In fact, they don't have a name. Instead, you are going to be able to help choose what GM calls it. That's right, enthusiasts across the country can have a hand in giving this sport truck back the name it so rightfully deserves - a name which still dances on the breeze and lives in the heart of every red blooded hoon -- "El Camino". You know what would be awesome? if someone posted pictures of GTOs in this thread.

Or more importantly if someone would stop posting non GTO pictures in this thread.

need to get some engineers from the motorcycling world into the automobile world since motorcycles are gaining more power and losing weight while cars are just gaining more power and weight. Dammit Ducati, stop hogging all of the good product engineers!

APS builds 557 hp twin-turbo setup for Pontiac G8 GT

http://www.autoblog.com/2008/05/12/aps-builds-557-hp-twin-turbo-setup-for-pontiac-g8-gt/

Quote :
"According to APS, the system is a straightforward, bolt-in affair, utilizing a right-sized, aluminum, air-to-air intercooler, seven pounds of boost and a pair of TIAL 38mm external wastegates to bleed off exhaust gases and optimize throttle response. While APS hasn't installed the system on a Pontiac G8 GT yet, they've strapped its own blown HSV (with a three-inch cat-back exhaust) onto the rollers of a Dyno Dynamics dyno and produced 557 hp and 583 lb.-ft. of torque while running 93-octane. Pricing hasn't been announced yet, but considering how impressed we were with the standard G8 GT, this setup has the potential to redefine the bang-for-the-buck quotient in the segment."

As I have stated in a previous thread, the G8 is my next purchase. Love everything about the car, minus the seating position, but I will have to work on that.

Figuring black on black, with the 19" rims, premium and sport package. Going to have them add the magnaflow exhaust to it and some tint.
