ok so i want my computer to remain on so that my torrent does not stop. what are the best power options to do this. obviously i could tell everything to never turn but is it the best option? options of course are hard disk, system stand by, system hibernate.

Your system has to be active to download the torrents. If you're looking to save power, all you'll be able to do is turn off your monitor.

If any of those were to happen while downloading a torrent, you would no longer be downloading the torrent.

You can do a lot of other things to save (or make) ~$10/month than try to optimize your computer's power settings. If its not running on a battery, and from the usage activity you are describing, its not worth messing with.

I've found that not running my computer 24/7 saves me ~$15-$20 per month.
