depends on your bank: at first citizens, any credit made to my acount before 5:00 on a business day will show up on my account the following business day usually by 9:30 a.m. but all banks are different...

Depends if u used ur card as credit or debit.......debits take alot longer.

Stores do not always make the credit right then and there. Some route it through their returns department or group them together into once or twice a week statements.

Most big chains like target group them together into submissions at 10pm eastern.

I learned this when working on a point of sale system.
