They've been doing that since at least the E36's. It was only in the center though, and often body color so you couldn't see it very well.1/22/2007 6:07:22 AM |

^you're on crack. The BMW can hit sixty in less than 5 seconds. The RL, barely under 7. The BMW would blow the Acura into the weeds handling wise.
However the E46 M3 is still superior in handling to the 335i. But the price of the 335i makes it tempting. 1/22/2007 1:12:09 PM |

it's called reading comprehension i was refering to the awd.....which currently only comes in the 328xi
i realize that a 3liter turbo is faster than an na 3.5liter......omg what a concept
and i highly doubt the bmw would "blow the acura into the weeds handling wise" don't know if you botherd to read about the sh-awd.....but it varies the torque between all 4 wheels and accelerates the outside rear wheel in a turn and compensates for over and understeer

It integrates active differentials with the all-wheel drive system and traction control to improve handling, similar to the "ATTS" system featured on the 1997 Honda Prelude SH. you can ignore the facts all you want but they are still there and the car was #1 on the c&d 10best when it was released in 2005 and it has a 2.5inch wider stance than the bmw1/22/2007 3:20:47 PM |

There are some tuning company's for the 335i that are getting 405 bhp out of the engine (Xede and Vishnu). Only thing I worry about is the I6 being a high compression engine already, how will it handle the extra boost down the road? 1/22/2007 4:29:56 PM |

the latest is 355whp and 405wtq from xede and exhaust. xede is like piggyback, nothing more. 1/22/2007 5:48:35 PM |

yeah the turbos are small i don't think capable of anything over 400hp but the tq numbers will go nuts..
High compression should be fine as long as bmw took their time designing the combustion chamber/pistons which knowing them... they did.

Much better than a stock 335i: (just like the 535d kicks the butt of the 540i)
BMW 335d
here is a test drive:
http://www.worldcarfans.com/features.cfm/country/gcf/featureID/1070316.001/bmw/wcf-test-drive-bmw-335d
Quote : | "The three-litre twin-turbo under the bonnet kicks out 282bhp, a respectable figure in itself, but then it’s a veiled reference in this context, diesels live and die on torque – lots of it. The 335d comes with 428lb/ft, way more than the all-conquering M5 in a more compact and chuckable package. In fact this car has so much power that BMW couldn’t fit a manual ‘box, so the automatic is the only option. That and a limited rev range are the only downside of the car.
Even those that have absolutely no idea what torque is will appreciate just what it’s doing for them with a prod of the right foot. This car can trundle along on tickover, and then a nudge on the loud pedal is all it takes to catapult it down the road. And that means in the real world, when we want to overtake, power away from a standstill, it’s way better than the petrol-powered alternative.
It will hit 60mph in 6.1s and has to be limited to 155mph, as with all the high-power BMWs in accordance with the gentleman’s agreement with Audi and Mercedes. But even that doesn’t do justice to a car that will smoke its tyres from a standstill and pull like a train from anywhere. You need to wind a petrol engine up to the upper echelons of the rev counter to get the kind of performance that’s available at tickover in this beast.
This car has a reservoir of pull just waiting to be tapped, with 95 per cent of the torque available from 1300 right through to 5000 revs, which took some clever technology to achieve. Almost every other twin-turbo has them side-by-side powering a selection of cylinders each: not this one.
In the three-litre BMW they’re sequential, with a smaller turbo working at low revs and the bigger one kicking up further at the range. Towards the red line, a control valve vents some of the gas directly into the exhaust system. That means no lag whatsoever and as much power as you’ll ever need from a car that returns 38mpg on the combined cycle and can cruise for hundreds of miles at a time." |

You can always tell who in the thread knows nothing about cars.
I'd be careful modding these new Turbo Bimmers. I've heard of overheating issues stock just from driving very aggressively. The cars look nice, but the baseline BMW coupe has gotten way too heavy and bloated.

To solve this problem how bout everyone who battles between BMW and Acura ...
GO TEST DRIVE
The BMW feels superior to the acura.. on the road and on track. I made much better lap times in the BMW than the Acura... BOTH STOCK. Granted both cars come with tons of technology and engineering but ...
In the end its the BMW that takes the cake. 3/19/2007 12:56:31 PM |
