I live in a 2 br about 1050 sqft. and my bill is like 85 or 90. I keep is somewhere between 68 and 70. But I guess that is because I'm on the 3rd floor. In the summer, my bill is around 120. 1/26/2007 8:57:31 AM |

older buildings/houses will have inferior insulation, and your heating/cooling bills will be higher. Newer buildings are much more energy efficient.
My gas bill was $78 for this past month, for a 2100 sq foot house. In the summer the cooling bill is a little higher (about $125 in July). 1/26/2007 9:20:26 AM |

so far my highest this year has been $85 for a 1200 sq ft row house, but i keep it pretty cool (63 degress).
i think this month will be higher, especially since it was 10 degress out this morning.
we have gas heating, so it varies a lot based on market price. 1/26/2007 9:26:35 AM |

Seems like most people I talk to have higher electric bills in the summer. We're the opposite. $160 winter - $90 summer. 1/26/2007 12:17:54 PM |

^ a lot of that depends on the house/apt itself We're on a second story and our downstairs neighboors over the years have typically apparently liked to keep their heat up reasonably high in the winter- we can tell as the heat comes up from their place into ours, that saves us some money. This apt also seems to stay warm pretty well in the winter.
This backfires on us in the summer however. 1/26/2007 12:31:35 PM |

^Yeah, but I'm in a stand alone house. In our case it's probably due to a busted heat pump. A few years back it froze up a lot. We probably defer to the heat strips a lot in the winter.

I had the tank filled the other day for about $400. The local assholes at the gas company came and filled my tank again today EVEN THOUGH I NEVER ASKED THEM TO. Just found a damn slip in my backdoor when I went to feed my dogs for another $250! WTF I have never asked to be on a route, just on a call as needed deal. My tank is so big I can usually go 1-2 fills a winter, and this short winter will probably allow me to run 1 tank. 1/26/2007 8:42:58 PM |

this past month, i breached $300. (gas and elect. only stove/range on the gas)
but, i live in a 160 year old house with neighbors that are too retarded to shut the front lobby door. avg temp for jan was ~39 degrees here.
baseboard elec. heaters, 4 in all.
its a 2 bdrm apt, that i use as a 1 bdrm with a huge living room.
also, all hardwood floors, poor window heat retention, and tons of other reasons why it's so high
it still sucks however.

Electric bill is $80/mo on average, gas heat is about $40. I live in a big building with big windows facing south, so the sun heats up my place a lot. in the summer, the windows heat it up like a greenhouse, so my AC bill goes up to about $120 because I keep it on about 66/67 degrees in the summer. 1/29/2007 7:28:43 PM |

After reading this thread I have to say this: Some of you who rent apartments in Raleigh PACK YOUR GODDAMN BAGS AND MOVE TO MY COMPLEX A.S.A.P. I live in a 700 sq. ft. 1 bedroom apartment which I keep at 72 degrees (not 68 like most of you in this thread). The HVAC system is electric, and my entire power bill has not gone higher than $75 so far. It's been above $70 twice, once in the summer and once last month. All other times of the year it stays between $50 and $60.
