The other day at the mall I came across what is probably the most expensive commodity there is.

USD 8,888,889/kg

[USD 4,031,932/lb]

Well OK, I guess a one lb diamond would cost more than that... but anyway, still mind-boggling.

Mind-boggling, because the commodity seems so mundane when you hear about it.

And so, I leave you all to guess what it is. I doubt anybody would be able to guess.

Hint: It is not a food item.

Hint: It is used only in the rich Middle Eastern countries by disgustingly wasteful princes.

Will login again after about 20 hours.

Happy guessing!

P.S. There is a "hidden" third hint in this post.

For reference:

Rhodium is the most expensive precious metal:

USD 85,000/lb

But, according to the intArnets, the most expensive object:

Californium-252: at $1,000 per microgram (note;1968 price)

Which translates to USD 454 million/lb.

It's either something really offwall and exotic

Or something tottally ordinary that is some how "special" (probably bullshit). - which i'm leaning towards since you apparently saw the thing? (or info about the thing) in a mall.

Although I'm at a loss at to what exactly it is.

its at the mall, and its mundane, so lets assume it costs $20.

then it must weigh .00008 oz

so, what weighs nothing and costs $20
