I installed some aftermarket foglights into my car and basically dont know how to run the wiring for them.

The car does not have a aftermarket or oem foglight option so the foglights I got were just ghetto rigged on there . The after market foglight however has all the harness available including the relay, fuse, and wiring that was meant for another car.

If you could help me in person that would be great.

although i like to go to a parking light instead of a headlight so i dont have to have the headlights on (assuming that circuit can handle the wattage)

i would but im pretty busy. its pretty hard to mess up. just follow that chart, the only thing i would change is that instead of running the line from the headlight to the switch, i would just find an interior light that turns on when the parking lights are on. all the switch does is open and close the relay for the fog lights, you can think of the relay as the real switch. the switch you are installing in your car has very little current going through it, its pretty hard to mess anything up here.

i didn't even bother dealing with wiring it up so it only comes on with headlights or parking lights. just fuse and switch. If I'm dumb enough to leave them on and have the battery die then I'm just that dumb.

of course this was an 80s jeep and I didn't give a shit about it.

Well if anyone here could meetup with me to guide me through the install that would be great. My car is located right outside of Alexander Hall

OR YOU COULD JUST RUN THAT WIRE TO THE POSITIVE ON THE BATTRY AND TURN THEM ON WHENEVER YOU WANTED DUMBSHITS.

instead of wiring the relay up to a headlight, try running it to a switched power source (one that is only on when the key is on).

I think i got it down, but i really dont wanna risk splicing/cutting into any wires unless i'm positive that its the correct one.

I rather take the time to do right rather then just ghetto rigging it!

tie the power wire for the relay switch into the red wire with black stripe on either front parking lamp instead of the headlight, otherwise go by the above diagram, its fairly simple

[Edited on January 29, 2007 at 5:21 PM. Reason : and make sure you solder and heat shrink the connections]

if you dont know how to solder and dont want to cut anything, there are clip on splices (not sure what the actual name is) that just involves clamping down something over the wire. that and some electrical tape will work.

but if you know how to solder do that, it wont take much time

with a relay, power draw from the tapped circuit would be next to nothing.

those are the shittiest way to splice wire that was ever invented. Very corrosion prone, whether you tape it or not.

^ not according to TypeA and everyone knows that soldering and heat shrinking is a waste of time, twist and tape is the way to go

Unless you are keeping the car for 15 years then corrosion is not going to be much of an issue. And as long as it is wired correctly and you dont leave them on when you cut the car off then you wont have to worry about the dead battery.

i've seen them last less than a year, the problem is the cut the copper strands and provide a poor connection
