I have a 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee. When I am in reverse and turn the wheel to the right there is an AWFUL grinding noise. I do not know alot about cars, but it seems to me that it is the CV Joint. Am I right.

Antone with any advice on what it is and a simple cheap way to fix it? Thanks

Not sure if it's the CV joint or not, but if it is, get that thing replaced PRONTO. Look and see if grease is leaking from the CV joint.

if it's got it, something with the center diff. in the full time t-case i'd guess off hand. hard to diagnose noises over the internet though. could be a cv joint on a front axle shaft too, but it'd likely be making a noise in either direction.

not to be captain obvious here, but did you check to see if the tire is rubbing on the inner fender?
