requested (kindof) by jamz0r. they were ranked nationally every week and finished 2nd in acc the tourney last year, including a win over carolina. lost a lot of players in the field but we're supposed to have a stronger pitching staff with andrew brackman playing only baseball and jeff stallings back from injury.

open the season with william and mary next weekend, 2/9,10,11 at 3:00pm, 2:00pm and 1:30pm respectively. come out to the doak and support one of the better teams that nc state has to offer. i swear to god it's fun.

and look out for this guy

Ramon Corona is a stud....we need more in our lineup though. Mangum is solid at catcher and Pond is pretty consistent. Other than that our lineup will be new for the most part. Pitching staff has a chance to be really good. NC State baseball is always either pitching or hitting. Used to be pitching with Sterry, Devine, Rogers. Last year it was hitting with Bates, Camp, Still, Corona....Im waiting on the day we have a complete team. We are on the way up with Avent I believe.

Well Rice is traditionally a VERY strong baseball team. It's not surprising to see them at No. 1.

Drew Martin is injured right now. I don't remember how serious it is. It might just a be couple-week kind of deal, but Avent said he's hurt right now.

The guy that'll be playing third this year is HUGE defensive upgrade from Mangini, and from what I've heard, has a nice pop in his bat. Joe Florio is his name--transfer from a Florida JC.

Mike Roskopf will be DH/1B, and he's got some power, too.

You know Corona can mash.

The defense should be MUCH improved, and the offense is going to be better than most expect it to be--whether that's as good as last year, who knows...but it'll be solid enough with the stud rotation we have.

Caleb Mangum is hurt right now, too; so David Lindsey will start at C for until Mangum can get back. They caught a stress fracture in his shin early enough that it won't be TOO bad.

Also, LF Jeremy Synan should have some good power this year, too.

i was sitting next to the tunnel tonight when the baseball team was setting up to go out during the timeout to throw shirts, so i figured i'd figure out what's up w/ drew martin. he says he's out for a few weeks, nothing major, just like Thecycle23 said.

They can win it this year, but they need bullpen help. Last year, it seemed like the bullpen couldn't hold a lead. The bats were great, but the pitching kinda kept other teams in the game.
