For those of you that can stomach listening to the dreck that is Bill and Sherry in the morning, Tom O'Brien is on the show today. It was teased at the end of the WRAL Morning News and he was already there, so Im not sure if hes just doing an interview in studio or some sort of co-hosting role.

I heard him on 94.7 this morning...

The UNC fan on there said something like "We are coming to Carter-Finley this year"

O'Brien was like "WHO is we?" lol

nothing of any value. Talked a little about the state/carolina game this year, and some about recruiting......Mostly BS.

I caught a bit of it when the radio station I listen to went to commercial. Bill and Sherry were talking about the greatness that was the UNC/Duke game and asked TOB if he was there. He sad no, but I was at "THE" game last Saturday.

Then Sherry started talking about how good Lowe looked in red.

I heard him on 620 the bull yesterday afternoon and he's supposed to be on 850 the buzz this morning.

They asked him to name a freshman to look out for but he wouldn't do it, said he won't know until he sees them in the spring to know what he's really got. He also talked about the crowd intensity and passion of State fans. Said at the Florida St. game last year when BC played them on their "black out day" and it was really fired up and intense, he asked one of his freshman (can't remember who) if they were scared, and the player said "No, I already played NC State".

Haha, that shit is awesome.

And people say that we have no atmosphere or that the RBC center/Carter Finley doesn't intimidate.

And each year comments like this from PLAYERS AND COACHES come out.

no one really says that, expect for trolls. we've been getting tons of props from other fans, other players, and the media about the noise we generate in both the rbc and at carter-finley.

Before NC State played Miami in 2004, I was on campus at UMiami. The UM football team would have their practices on campus right by the gym. Each day I went by and the team was doing live drills, they were playing loud crowd noise and a recording of NC State's band playing the fight song. NC State is not a fun place to play.

We can make a lot of noise as long as people show up, but theres been a lot of basketball games this year with a lot of empty seats. Not just the Woffords and Gardner-Webbs either...the crowd for the Michigan, Alabama, and even some ACC contests has been lacking. Our fans are great as long as they actually make it to the game.

a few UNC fans said that when we beat FSU that was the loudest they had ever heard it at a football game, louder than they would ever hear it or had heard it, something like that, at UNC

that night was great

[Edited on February 8, 2007 at 3:59 PM. Reason : ^^ the 7:00 weekday games are just kinda weak sometimes, same for the hurricanes]

why doesn't the student section jump? It's pathetic seeing 10% of the people jump. We're one of the few teams in the country that get seats along the sidelines like that... it's ashame we don't use it to our advantage.

It is because of this game that I have the need for video camera. I cant remember how intense it was because I dont have a video of the sound in the stands other than the lame sound from ESPN.

I mean I know how intense it was, but to hear it again would be wonderful.

The NEZ seats are off the hook. The crowd while smaller is rowdy as all get out. I think it's b/c it's full of people that wanted to wait longer to tailgate, but still want good seats. I got front row seats to the GT game, and I had my my decibel meter with me. I believe the highest I saw it at was around 105-108 decibels. It was hella cold for that game though, but I stayed warm by banging on the pads that line the walls of the NEZ.

i was also in the NEZ for that game.

i had my fingers in my ears while i was jumping up and down while yelling at the top of my lungs.

and my ears still rang the next day.

"TO THE EDITOR:

Remember the N.C. State player who called himself amphibious because he could shoot with both hands? Of course you do! That statement was so ridiculous that it has become legendary.

I am writing to ask that the DTH to use its discretion when printing quotations in order to avoid circumstances like at State.

After the UNC-State game, the DTH printed a quotation from a Tar Heel saying, "This was probably the most rowdiest crowd we played against because they was yelling stuff and it was real loud."

We all say things that may not reflect the true breadth of our intelligence. This was one of those times. Give the guy a break and paraphrase. Thanks.

It was real loud in the RBC that night. Haven't heard it that loud ever in Dean Dome. I got really mad. Wish we had a better student section "
