Is by far the worst college website in the country. The navigation is subpar, the format is inconsistent, and most importantly, it appears as though everything that happened prior to the creation of the current Gopack.com is irrelevant. For example, if you want to find some statistical information on the Packs upset of Connecticut in the 2005 NCAA tournament or its series history with North Carolina, the one place you would expect to find it is of no help. And we wonder why the media presents incorrect information about us on a daily basis. On top of this, most of the information for games from the current season is ripped from the opponents website (anyone think its a coincidence that the colors for the VT box score are orange and burgundy?). Its also incredibly out of date sometimes (its been updated now, but on Saturday the wrestling schedule had no new results since early January).

Im surprised this topic hasnt been brought up before....doesnt anyone else feel this site is extremely lacking? I dont think Im asking for a lot here, Im just asking for an effort to be made to make a quality product.

i thought it had been brought up before...

it just, unfortunately, hasn't been brought up in a while...

for a school with of so many students and alumni who can build webpages, it's kinda shameful that our athletic webpage is so shitty...

In general, you are correct about the poor navigation ... but the information you are looking for is there; you just have to know how to find it.
http://www.gopack.com/pdf4/57386.pdf?SPSID=41964&SPID=3731&DB_OEM_ID=9200
NCAA Information versus UConn ... page 45 (181) of the PDF.
UNC Series Information ... page 67 (203).
Box scores and statistics are not "ripped from the opponents website" ... the home team is the official scorer. The HTML is formatted in the home computer and given to the opposing team. At the end of the game, the home SID office sends the file to each respective school's site and it is posted.
Wrestling scores are input manually. The post-match stories have been there all along, perhaps they were not linked correctly to the results.

my dad sent an email about 6 months ago with many of these complaints to Tony Hanes (I think thats who it was). He got an email back saying they were working on improving the site, and wanted to know more specifically what he would like to see from the site, suggestions, etc. They did improve some aspects of it, but it needs work. Therefore my suggestion to you would be to email someone on staff and let them know specifically what you don't like... if enough people do then I think you could see at least some revision

Wasnt looking for that information specifically, just using examples. However, a PDF file, particularly one that is apparently over 200 pages, does not qualify. That doesnt even qualify as poor navigation. That is the kind of information that needs to be put up there, but in a proper format for a website. As for box scores, consistency is key to making a quality website. Either we get the version from the other team that looks completely different with their team colors, or we get the proper format but where it likes to move around on the screen (I guess thats what happens when we write them). Thing is, it used to be done correctly when it was a CSTV site, and I probably wouldnt even complain if that information had been ported over, but for some reason we are pretending it never happened.

Front page article for the win over Virginia Tech showed Gavin Grant at home in the game against Michigan. In fact, the archived article still has a picture of McCauley in a home game. This is not a one time occurence if you look through the archives (the archives that only go back to July 2006).

Also, I dont believe "Gavin Grand" plays basketball for us. Seriously, its one of our own players, thats absolutely pathetic.

i would suggest sending comments to Brian Asbill. he is the general manager of Wolfpack Sports Marketing, the company that is hired by NCSU to run its athletic marketing efforts, including Gopack.com. For misc. information, Wolfpack Sports Marketing is a division of Capitol Broadcasting (which owns WRAL, Mix 101.5, Durham Bulls ball club, etc.)

Anyway, his email address is: basbill -at- gopack -dot- com (yes, im trying to keep the poor guy from getting spammed to hell)

my two cents: if you want change, ask for it , but dont just say "the site sucks, fix it". i guarantee that will get nowhere. constructive ideas will go a long way...
