exactly this arguement has brought the gayness to this thread...

I'm just saying it would take a "fucking moron" to relate randolph's homophobia to raleigh being a bad city. I'm also pretty sure people nationally would relate him more to duke than to raleigh if to raleigh at all.

I can name tons of colleges for whom NBA players played but I'd be hard pressed to know more than 5 hometowns of players. I'm pretty sure this is reflective of others as I've never even been asked where a *player grew up.

Anyway this is stupid and I'm done...

we arent talking about some random NBA player....if that player was from NC, and his recruiting had come down to your college and its two biggest rivals, and you actually follow basketball, I think you would remember where he went to HS. Hell, I am not even from here and I knew that.

I went to high school with him. He brought a lot of publicity to the school. When he was a sophomore coaches from all over would come all the way to the school just to wave at him. They wouldn't speak because that'd be a violation of NCAA regulations or whatever. We had to play some games at Reynolds to accomodate all of the fans.

And actually people probably would tie him more to Raleigh than Duke because he was a big deal here. His grandfather has his jersey retired. It's hanging in the rafters at the RBC Center: Ronnie Shavlik.

But anyway, I always heard from classmates that he was kind of stupid and a jerk. Guess it's true. First leaving college with minimal game and now this dumb ass remark. Way to go Shav.
