to connect a harddrive directly instead of streaming music from a PC


do they exist? do any of you have any recommendations?

shoot, i'd just be psyched to find a home audio receiver that would accept my 5.1 stereo plugs

^^ yeah, a quick google didn't turn up anything but receivers that stream from the pc via some sort of wireless usb adapter, but I don't know the product range well enough to discount the existence of one altogether

You can get an (Apple)TV and hook it up to a receiver, it has a HD and stuff that it can pull music and videos from.

xbox + xbmc. you can use a controller port as a usb port if you got more than what fits on your xbox drive
