Need to fill up my Blockbuster queue. I'm on an 80's movie kick right now. I already have the staples like Breakfast Club. I'm looking for films that are lesser known but still good like Three O'Clock High.

Any recommendations?

Ahem.

ADVENTURES IN BABYSITTING

It has hot-ass Elisabeth Shue, murderous mobsters, Albert Collins, Ferris Bueller-style Chicago parental avoidance, and THOR!

Also,

Heaven Help Us

and

Diner (set in 1959, but a quirky '80s film nonetheless)

I've tried to watch Purple Rain a couple of times. I could never get into it.

And I totally remember The Peanut Butter Solution, especially the part where the kid puts some of it on his balls and grows some wicked pubes.

Brazil (1985) is my favorite movie of all time but I'm not so sure it's what you are looking for in an "80's movie"

yep. that movie was fucking weird..... i was so young when i saw it, when they were testing peanut butter solution (it was supposed to grow hair) and one kid said "where are you going to put it", and the other kid looked down. Then later it showed hair coming out the bottom of his pants, and i was like ".... why did he put it on his feet?"

A lot of these are good. Some of these aren't really quirky.

someone help me... i believe this was an 80s movie: this kid would ride his bike around a rock quarry, and when he did there would be this swirling and gurgling in the water. they made it out like there was a monster that lived in the water in the quarry, but in the end, a giant crane excavator thing was the culprit and for some reason lifted up out of the water at the end of the movie. i don't think the plot of the movie revolved around this, i believe the movie was about something else.

Wasn't it set in Australia? And I think it had Henry Thomas (Elliot from E.T.).
