^^ Yeah, there are only 2 programs in the country for it, so everyone has to pay a premium for qualified graduates.

yeah they do at UM they have a ME or MS in fire protection engineering

at OK State they have a MS in Fire and Emergency Management Administration

there are quite a few schools with BS's in Fire Protection Engineering and in Emergency Management

There are others that offer MS or ME in fire protection engineering as well WPI, Eastern Kentucky are a couple

John Jay College also offers a MS in Protection Management.

with the shift in focus to Homeland Security there are also schools offering degrees in that now.

Qualified American teachers would do well (financially) to go and teach in other countries.

Not only would you get a lot more ($30-40K tax free), but you will also get other benefits, such as fully furnished free housing, travel allowance (cash or tickets), health insurance, etc.

(so basically that's equivalent to $60-80K salary in the US)

Not to mention the experience of living in a different country.

I know teachers (in the Middle East) who make $50,000.

Computer science, but I'm doing finance work (cost estimating) right now.

^ Agreed. Just be sure to do your research and make sure you're working for a reputable firm. I've known a lot of kids who did that and got burned by their employers (in Eastern Asia). Be sure you also know a little bit about how contracts are treated in other countries; some nations aren't as strict about contract interpretations as the United States.

business management/marketing undergrad
mba - supply chain management

i took an offer with a really awesome startup so it doesn't pay as much, but my base is in the $60-$65k range with some pretty lofty incentives if we get things rolling. it's general management and marketing so it doesn't pay as much as a lot of the mba supply chain jobs do, but i get to stay in raleigh!
