What the fuck. The Bears don't resign him to even a 1 year deal, and then he goes to the Chargers and doesn't even become their DC, but their LBs coach. Must suck after being considered a head coaching candidate for so many jobs.

Ummmm, pretty much everyone that was on any sporst show today. Norv Turner was a TERRIBLE hire, not to mention they lost both their OC and DC. They will not make the SB next year.

ok, i know that he installed the offense that Priv and LT currently run
he has been pretty terrible but given the situations he was in, i see this as a much better fit than any other coach they could have went with

basically he is the OC for the team and head coach at the same time

all i know is this is a deep coaching staff with alot of wisdom and football gurus part of it
dont be surprised if they do well

good hire SD

Yeah, but Rivera got hired as the linebackers coach! So he pretty much has nothing to do during the actual games now.

^They could have kept Marty

Or hired Phillips
Or Cameron

Their GM Smith needs to be fucking fired. He is about to run a great team into the fucking ground.

Yeah, its a great hire, but for the wrong reason. Hell, atleast pick the guy up as your DC.

Its gonna be funny when Norv Turner somehow manages to fuck up the most talented team in the NFL.

I don't think AJ will give him enough control to do that.

I think they win at least 12 games next year.

I dont know. They downgraded in every position except LB coach. Losses like that have got to end up costing you more than 2 wins.

Do you?

You remember that dominant Cowboys offense of the early 90's? Aikman? Emmitt? Irvin? You know who was running the offense?

Turner hasn't really been given a fair chance to do anything post-cowboys. His Redskin teams were plagued with shitty QBs, and the Raiders were the fucking Raiders. Enough said. He gets major props for actually making Alex Smith look like a pro QB last year, and for making a 49ers offense with NO talent at WR look pretty damn good. In fact, Aikman to this day still gives Turner all the credit for his development into a hall of fame QB.

Substitute Aikman, Emmitt, and Irvin for Rivers, LT, and Gates, and Turner finally has a balanced offense to work with again. While he's not an earth-shattering hire, he'll keep the offense moving, and the defense will take care of itself.

Great Hire, but someone else said it...for the wrong reasons...I hope they give Rivera alot of leeway to make calls and run alot of the D. (or he may be gone next season-have not looked at the contract details).

I am bothered with Norv Turner as Head Coach....I would rather a new Coach with this young team....

I know it is very not likely (absolutely not happening) but I would prefer Rivera to run the Defense and not be stuck drinking gatorade through-out the game....I think in the Chargers case-The LB coach is a more appropriate DC than the actual DC.

want rivera wants from his time in san diego is to learn the 3-4 defense. that was what some owners were hung up on when interviewing him for a head coaching position. rivera wants to raise his resume profile, and then he'll jet. that's why he's not going to be the coordinator: doesn't know the 3-4 defense.

So how exactly did this team become so great? Was it magic? STFU Smith has made some wonderful moves. And you nor I know if this was a good hire or not.
