Remember VW did this for a friend of my parents in germany a while back. I don't remember what mileage was on his car but he had kept it in pristine condition and had well over 500k and they gave him a fully loaded new VW for it. 2/21/2007 3:24:28 PM |

Quote : | " Convinced of the jet-like performance and endurance of its products, Saab Automobile USA will offer a free new Saab to any U.S. customer who covers the distance of one million miles (or more) in a Saab that he or she originally purchased new. The new Saab will come with the 100,000 mile/5 years GM Powertrain limited warranty and 3 years/36,000 miles no-charge scheduled maintenance, standard with every model in the 2007 Saab Automobile USA portfolio.
This offer was inspired by Wisconsin resident and insurance salesman Peter Gilbert who recently reached the one million milestone in a 1989 Edwardian Gray Saab 900 SPG, still with the original engine and turbo, at this year's North American Saab Owners Convention in Lake George, N.Y. Saab Automobile USA General Manager Jay Spenchian was the very first to congratulate Gilbert and his 900 SPG on the occasion.
* The offer is valid from December 15, 2006 - December 31, 2007. * The offer is available to any U.S. customer who: o Can present verifiable proof to Saab Automobile USA that he or she is the original owner of the Saab vehicle that covered one million road miles or more; o Verify that the vehicle's odometer hasn't been tampered with; and o Prove that the vehicle is currently and has always been registered in the United States. * The customer is responsible for all applicable taxes, title fees, registration and destination charges.
The offer of a free, new 2007 Saab 9-5 Aero is not to exceed a Manufacturers Suggested Retail Price of $38,735. Certain features and options are subject to availability at time of delivery. Delivery must take place at an authorized Saab USA dealer" |

it only took him 18 years--that's more than a thousand miles a week! wtf does he do that he needs to drive that much?! 2/26/2007 1:28:00 PM |

1,000,000 miles / 20 mpg = 50,000 gallons of gas
50,000 gallons * $2.20/gallon = $110,000 spent on gas if started at 0 miles
**Even if you have put 500,000 miles already on the car it would cost $55,000 in gas to get it up to 1,000,000 miles and the car is not valued over $40,000**
Not sure how mileage works with a car in neutral, but you still have to think about the power cost for the machine it would take to do this.
Tampering would be the only way... and somehow you would have to prove it was not tampered with(maybe by tightening the screws back real tight on the odometer)
oh well 2/26/2007 2:57:18 PM |

it would be real easy to rig. but dont think saab will believe us.
if i was an original saab owner from the 90s, then i would rig the tach to about 399999 miles or so.
and each inspection i would just add on like 140000 miles or so. and by the time it was 2006, i would have 1 million miles
or something, i dont know how all those #s add up 2/26/2007 11:24:08 PM |
