Yeah i know the show sucks... but i like HP so i still watch it.

Anyway... a 355 w/ 90mm turbo running 6.5lbs of boost is the dumbest setup ever
and they had a data logger on it that they were letting the team read after every race

how do you negotiate when they know everything about your car...
ohh wait... you don't and you lose.
Fuckin idiots that turbo should be running 16lbs+ on that motor and the shit would have been a blowout... (either the race or the motor one of them would have been blown out)

the thing I don't like about that show is that all those cars are usually cheap ass cars that been modded. These cars should be used for demolition derby, not racing. They should use nicer cars.

^uh, the main point of the show is to have REAL street cars that get it. not some mega bucks trailer queen race cars. though there have been a handful of episodes with cars that have some serious $$ in them.

any "street racer" worth his weight doesn't have some blinged out beauty of a car. function over form.

I think it's a pretty good show. It's worth watching on DVR at least. I do wonder sometimes why they don't "go for broke" more often with more boost and more nitrous.

well the other team knew they had a high hp big block w/ no power adders so... think 800-950hp ish
now a 90mm turbo isn't really efficient at all until 1k hp

if it were the last run... and i were losing... i would turn up the nos or the boost and go for all or nothing.

if it breaks... ugh it wont be ur car anymore anyway. also if i lost i would be a sore loser and probably try down shifting without clutching it etc just to blow out the tranny and maybe hit a wall with the car too. im a sore loser what can i say.

Back in our IHRA racing heyday, we we're in line to get into Darlington for the '87 Winternationals. We (well, my dad and uncle) got to chatting with Bill Kuhlman and at some point during the convo he says (paraphrased) "My truck might look like shit, my trailer might look like shit, and my car might look like shit, but what's under the hood is top dollar". He ended up being the first guy in the Pro Mod world to crack the 200mph barrier that year.

I read an interview with him. He has no interest in cars and knows nothing about them. He just thought the show would be exciting so he pitched it to the network with the requirement that he be allowed to host it.

i still like the show though, and it's probably one of the better car shows out there right now. i've heard at least most of the negotiating and taking the cars from the loser is real though.

CAM won an "Imports vs Domestics" shootout. They took home a busted Civic, but I read on their website that it was making over 500 HP when they tuned and dynoed it. Would have been bad to lose the Trans Am they were running though. Seemed like they had a lot more to lose than the other team, but they also had the faster car so I guess it works out.
