T40 thinkpad 1.4ghz 512mb ram. I think the mobo died. Either way it had been acting flaky for a while. You could try to fix it, but if that doesnt work, the screen, harddrive, ram etc could probably be sold for parts pretty easy.
Make me an offer. 2/24/2007 4:09:53 PM |

whats the issue with it? The T40 has a known issue where it will power on, but basically nothing will happen. There are a couple of fixes that I've seen work. First, unplug it, remove the battery. Press the power button 11 times. On the 11th press, hold it for 30 seconds. Repeat that process. Try to boot it now.
If that doesn't work, gently lift the laptop up from the touchpad end, about 2 inches, and drop it. That may reseat the wireless card that sometimes comes loose.
If that doesn't work, don't know. 2/24/2007 6:33:14 PM |

I looked at this laptop in the past and did what I could (before it died completely it was plagued with random shutdown issues for no apparent reason). She's right, the mobo is definitely fried. 2/25/2007 2:59:19 AM |
