Has anyone received an acceptance (or waitlist, denial...) letter to NCSU CVM yet?
I know some other schools have already sent out letters and I'm getting impatient waiting for a letter from here! 2/26/2007 4:22:47 PM |

I've had my interviews at OSU and MSU and they told me I should have a notice by March 15th. I thought NCSU would be early April, but mid to early March would be nice too. This way I don't have to send any money to hold seat (considering I get in). 2/27/2007 4:37:07 PM |

I had a friend who was rejected because State sent itself the wrong transcript. I mean maybe she wouldn't have gotten in for other reasons, but something like that really sucks 2/27/2007 9:09:16 PM |

actually, it wasn't their fault really.... one guy didn't get in b/c he failed organic once (ok, grades are important) but its pretty bad when he's a tech at the vet school teaching 4th years how to do stuff and they still don't let him in!
my other friend got denied b/c the vet school doesn't do a very good job specifying who you get your recommendations from. she did alot of research with phd profs at state, so got recommendations from three of them.. great right? not. b/c the doctors teach more than they do research, they're not considered "phd scientists" 2/28/2007 11:50:07 AM |

If you applied to NC State's Vet school there were over 745 applications this year. It's a takes a while to whittle down to the 20 they accept as the main class. Next year they "tentatively" planning to double acceptance. Good luck to all of you! 3/14/2007 7:53:21 AM |

main class of 20? double acceptance next year?
what are you talking about? 3/14/2007 12:36:26 PM |

I checked with some individuals as I realized that 20 didn't make much sense thinking about it.
Here's how it breaks down.
DVM Applications They accept ~70 out of 600 applicants
Graduate Applications They accept ~ 80-100 out of 600+ applicants
Match (House Officers/Residents) Applications They accept 20-21 out of 700-800 applicants
The match (what I wrote a management tool for) group is where I got the #20 for. I work for the Vet School if that wasn't apparent. Sorry for the confusion.
My comment about accepting double is that their current plans are to double the number of applicants to certain focus areas next year. This is tentative and "unofficial" but it looks to be what's going to happen. 3/14/2007 1:12:57 PM |

I was rejected from state because I did not indicate I wanted to be considered for alternative elgibility?! I'm still stumped about the necessity of such a requirement. One of the 3 GPA's considered was .09 under the minimum. I'm still fuming! Would have cost a heck of a lot less money to stay in Raleigh. BUT I did get into Glasgow in Scotland, and am wait-listed for Iowa. No news yet from Kansas or Prince Edward Island...I guess they just think it's fun to take their time. 4/4/2007 8:57:07 AM |

yeah if you're gpa does not meet the requirements for last 45 hrs, total, and required courses then you had to write out an essay why you should be considered.
Although, to tell you the truth, most people that dont meet the required gpa's usually dont get in anyway. Certain unique experiences or something that sets you apart from the crowd can cause the exception though. 4/6/2007 2:19:11 PM |
