I'm getting repeated Check Engine light for "Bank 1 rich at idle." Have changed plugs and wires and the Upstream 02 sensor. Was getting soot in exhaust, but with new plugs that stopped.
Can you think of anything else I can try (other than not driving a piece of shit car) to fix the misfire before I pay someone $1000 to take this damn thing apart and fix it?
Thx. 2/28/2007 10:33:43 PM |

are you having a misfire or is it just running rich? 2/28/2007 11:05:29 PM |

if its running rich thats a different thing than what i would say
if its a cylinder misfire it may be with the fuel injection failing. you may want to check each cylinders compression and see if one is locked up as well. 2/28/2007 11:45:40 PM |

Well what if the goddamn thing is running rich? You really need to do some more focused troubleshooting to even determine if that is truly the case.
Fuel pressure?
Compression?
Error codes?
The big deal here is that it could be any one of a dozen different things, each with over a dozen different failure scenarios. You're asking us to basically tell you everything that could be wrong, and like Joel, I'll be goddamned if I want to sit here and type 25 fucking pages of shit that it could be.
