I dont know if this is a good trade... Dre Bly is pretty good... has any of the 1000 yrd RB's from Denver done anything at a new team besides Portis. 3/1/2007 5:10:23 PM |

This trade would only matter if Tatum Bell was Barry Sanders
Either way Lions will suck 3/1/2007 5:40:37 PM |

Today Dre Bly was traded to the Broncos for Tatum Bell, George Foster AND a 5th round draft pick.
In an earlier post I figured Millen would find a way to mess this up, but that bastard actually one-up’d me.
Granted, these two guys arent "premier" players, but they are much needed and now give us a lot of wiggle room in this draft (no, that doesnt mean Chad Johnson should become a Lion).
All of us Lions fans love to hate Matt Millen, and that shouldnt change despite this trade. However, although Hell is far from freezing over - there just might be a few snow flakes falling.
Kinda poetic.

Not exactly sure what Denver is thinking on this one. 1 player for 3? Runningbacks at Denver are notoriously expendable and our secondary can use help, so maybe it'll turn out allright for us.3/1/2007 5:43:47 PM |

Maybe Denver has decided that with Champ on one corner and Bly on the other, they pretty much will shut down the passing game and can focus their game planning on blitz packages and stopping the run. I really don't know. Tatum Bell was never going to pan out in Denver anyway because of his inconsistency and Denver breeds lineman so maybe Foster was expendable. I do think this is a decent deal for the Lions, especially with Kevin Jones's unclear future. 3/1/2007 5:58:19 PM |

Exactly. Denver didn't need to give up the 5th, but Bly should fit their system & really allow them to focus on blitzing & run stopping. Denver plays alot of man, which is Bly is really good in (of course it's the only defense Bly is good in). Tatem Bell is overrated anyway. He fumbles way too much.

makes perfect sense. Shanahan has always hated Tatum Bell i cant remember a game where he wasnt in the "doghouse". Shanny doesnt like fumblers and Tatum gets banged up too much to shoulder a load.
Denver needed someone to replace the CB that got shot this offseason (williams)
P.S. Dre Bly lives off of his freshman All American status. He's not a shutdown corner by any means. He's not bad, but he's not elite or anything. 3/3/2007 5:34:21 PM |
