If you had to recommend one movie for someone to watch before they die, what would it be? Give link to IMDB or RottenTomatoes or something similar.

Im seriously thinking it would be Kurosawa's Seven Samurai

http://imdb.com/title/tt0047478/
http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/seven_samurai/

I was going to say Ikiru, but there's a lot of Kurosawa in here anyway.

The Exterminating Angel

http://imdb.com/title/tt0056732/

or the other "To Live" (Huozhe) that I like:

http://imdb.com/title/tt0110081/

You guys need to remove Kurosawa from your asses. Jesus...a thread like this and Kurosawa is all that's in it. I love Seven Samurai as much as the next guy, but....

My recommendation would be Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

http://imdb.com/title/tt0071853/

Fuck, if someone's dying, I'm giving them the best laughs I can find.

^^ its not "one movie to watch while you're dying"

its one movie that everyone should see at least once before they die. and you might love Kurosawa, but you can't seriously recommend his shit as a film that everyone should see.

having said that, the obvious choice is House of Wax.

The irony in that is that Brazil is written and directed by Terry Gilliam, a member of Monty Python.

<3 though

haha, yeah. i didn't even think about that.

the difference is that monty python is played out, and Brazil is terribly underrated.

Haha so that's what it's come to now. Donald Sutherland is now simply known as "Keifer Sutherland's dad."

yeah, this isnt about watching a movie on teh deathbed.

just teh one movie you'd reccommend. (ive been drawing a blank on what to rent lately)

i seriously threw out Seven Samurai, but i didnt expect it to turn into a Kurosawa fest

i guess its not surprising tho. hes only one of the best directors ever

Of course you can. I also recommended a Chinese movie from 1994 and a Mexican movie from 1962. I don't see what's "wrong" with recommending films I love to everyone.

In any case, Ikiru is one of the best films about life and death ever made, and you should definitely see it before you die.

Well, if a person had never seen the movie, and needed to see it before they died, it'd be Holy Grail.

I know you all think it's played out, but that's different.

It's easy to pick something like Seven Samurai that's good and few people have seen. But that's not the point. You're not trying to pick a movie thats great and few people have seen. You're trying to pick ONE movie that they should see before they die.

And i want that one to be the best comedy I can think of.

welll.... i thought you might be kidding, but hey, who am i to judge someone else's taste in movies.

It'd be my luck that I'd make fun of your movie then find out it was the one movie you and your grandma always used to watch together before she died or something.

also i thought you were talking about the 1954 movie which I saw was the first major feature released 3-D. and you know, that might just be important .... to .... someone.

Oh well. I never knew Paris Hilton was in a real movie. thanks for enlightening me.
