they fucked up by putting mcclinton and visser on 3rd team (honorable mention AT BEST) and not having mccauley and lawson on the 3rd team (i would even argue ben could've been on 2nd team) 3/5/2007 5:04:26 PM |

Lots of shit on there.
Visser over McCauley is shit, as mentioned. Ty Lawson not being on first, second, OR third team is ridiculous. He may be the second best point in the league. 3/5/2007 5:43:00 PM |

^Yeah, I can understand Lawson not making 1st or 2nd team, because the guards up there deserve credit for what they've accomplished without much of a frontcourt to work with
but not even getting honorable mention is a little weird. 3/5/2007 5:44:47 PM |

i know engin didn't have the numbers, but he is easily one of the better players in the acc. in the games he did play in, he performed. 3/5/2007 6:05:56 PM |

All in all, not bad selections this year. Visser is garbage, but otherwise I don't have much to grip about. If Engin could have played the entire year, he'd be second or third team.3/5/2007 6:19:47 PM |

James Mays should be on All-Defensive team over McRoberts.
McCauley should have made 3rd team over McClinton, even if he didn't help himself with some no-shows late in the year.
Vasquez probably deserves All-Freshman team over Scheyer, but it is close. I'm surprised he didn't get honorable mention for all-defensive. 3/6/2007 8:36:09 AM |

What is everyone's problem with McClinton?
Guy averaged 17 PPG and led the ACC in 3 point shooting on the last place team.
Also Tyrese Rice is a baller, but not 2nd team worthy over the likes of Lawson and Ben. 3/6/2007 11:48:32 AM |

That's a pretty nasty All-Freshman team.
It could probably beat most ACC teams... 3/6/2007 12:12:23 PM |

according to david glenn these will be the individual acc awards:
Quote : | "Coach Of The Year
Gary Williams, Maryland
Player Of The Year
Jared Dudley, Sr., Boston College
Rookie Of The Year
Javaris Crittenton, Georgia Tech" |

why is everyone jocking Lawson so much? It seems some people think he's already Ray Felton in his junior year or something...are you forgetting that in most of UNC's losses, it was his bad decision making in the last couple minutes of the game that cost UNC? 3/6/2007 12:24:59 PM |

Besides Dudley being POY, what Dave Glenn has is a joke, and if that's really how the votes will turnout then we need new voters. No way Leitao doesn't get it. He got them to the top of the ACC and a share of the regular season championship. They're going back to the NCAAs for the first time since 2001. Gary Williams has done a great job in this final stretch of games, but he's got way more talent than Leitao, but Leitao's team did better. Also the Freshman of the Year will be the biggest crock of shit since Ed Nelson won it over Julius Hodge, if Wright or Costner don't get it.
I'm not surprised that Gavin Grant isn't on there as at least an honorable mention, but the guy consistently puts up decent numbers, even when he was playing out of position. I kind of wonder what his turnover numbers would have looked like if he didn't have to play PG for that one stretch of games.

yeah, i think leitao should get coy, and costner/wright (I'd say costner) should get roy.
Glenn says leitao lost coy with the loss over the weekend. 3/6/2007 12:38:18 PM |

Greenberg also has a strong case for COY. Should be Greenberg or Leitao IMO. 3/6/2007 3:06:02 PM |

I still say Greenberg over Leitao.
UVA had an easier conference schedule.
And on top of that, I just can't say that a team that lost to Wake this year deserves any kind of accolade. 3/6/2007 3:57:57 PM |

looking for a link but I've heard that it ended up with:
Leitao as COY
Wright as ROY
and Dudley as POY
yeah just check out www.theacc.com and it has it all on the front page.
also Jamon Gordon got defensive player of the year
