I'm at my girlfriend's house and her mom is the most techno-illiterate person in the world.

Her computer was acting up and she starting uninstalling programs left and right, including Microsoft Works. My girlfriend is trying to reinstall Works but every time she does, an error window pops up saying that, "Windows Installer is unable to continue this operation. This could be due to Windows being in safe mode or to a corrupted installation of Windows Installer. Please contact you program personnel consultant."

I've tried downloading and reinstalling Windows Installer, but that doesn't help. Is there anything that I can do without calling Microsoft? And if not, does anybody know the tech support number?

Thanks.

That's still better than going to c:\WINDOWS and saying:

"I never use these files. I might as well delete them to make room."
