Does the advance auto parts on western let you borrow tools? I need a breaker bar and 3/8" extensions to change transmission fluid.

i'm not sure why you need such tools for that, but you can purchase those things fairly inexspensively.

what about a torque wrench, I dont want to purchsae one, would anyone let me borrow a 3/8" drive one that is fairly short, would be using it in small area's.

^^just buy a cheap harbor freight one. good enough for most applications and occasional use.

^i should hope that you don't need a breaker bar to remove it. if you do, whoever put it in way over tightened it.

i'd just pick one up at the store to save shipping, assuming you live here or in a city with one.

iirc, they're not much more if any than your budget.

^yea, I hope I don't need the breaker bar too, but I want to have it there just in case. I don't want to get to that point, then couldn't remove the nut.

you dont need any kind of extention or breaker bar.

all you need is a 3/8 ratchet (the end of it) to open up the drain plug.

then close the plug and fill it from the VSS gear. you are gonna need a long funnel for that.

and a 10mm to open the bolts for the VSS gear.

that is the easiest and cleanest way.

you can open the fill hole to see when you get to the right amount of fluid, but remember you need to be on level grounds, so you might have to use the jack to raise up the rear end. or you can just guestimate the amount it needs, i think like 2.7Q or something.

on top of the transmission.

it has 2 10mm bolts and you have to kinda twist the gear out, you'll see why when it comes out.

yer gonna need a lont extension for the 10mm.

might have to move your intake out of the way.


but once you get the hang of it, its much easier (especially if you have an aftermarket intake, because you dont even have to remove it) than squirting tranny fluid in the fill hole.
