interestingly enough, my brother in law was visiting from south africa last year, and said that raleigh reminded him a lot of some vacation town over there.
I did not get this.
I mean, i love raleigh and all, but there's nothing touristy to do here. 3/7/2007 2:55:00 PM |

Everyone who comes here from anywhere remotely urban always talks about how many trees and parks there are...if you're not a beach person, it's a relaxing little place. 3/7/2007 3:08:30 PM |

There are a few parks and whatnot, but if your into that, Asheville's a much better nature destination.
Did they lump Pinehurst into "Raleigh"? Cause that I could understand. 3/7/2007 3:18:05 PM |

Maybe a good cheap way to get to the beach/Outer Banks! But otherwise I don't quite understand it either. 3/7/2007 3:22:08 PM |

If I hadn't grown up in the area I wouldn't want to come to Raleigh/Durham for vacation. Maybe a stop over on my way to the beach or mountains but thats about it. I had a saying a few years back.
"Raleigh is one of the top places to live but one of the worse places to vacation." 3/7/2007 3:29:35 PM |

Yea, Raleigh's greatest asset is its closeness to the beach AND mountains, which has nothing to do with raleigh itself. 3/7/2007 4:35:46 PM |

it's like 2 hours to the beach and 3-4 hours to the mountains, how is that close to either? 3/7/2007 4:49:59 PM |

It's a great place to live, but I wouldn't want to visit there.
