interestingly enough, my brother in law was visiting from south africa last year, and said that raleigh reminded him a lot of some vacation town over there.

I did not get this.

There are a few parks and whatnot, but if your into that, Asheville's a much better nature destination.

If I hadn't grown up in the area I wouldn't want to come to Raleigh/Durham for vacation. Maybe a stop over on my way to the beach or mountains but thats about it. I had a saying a few years back.

"Raleigh is one of the top places to live but one of the worse places to vacation."

Yea, Raleigh's greatest asset is its closeness to the beach AND mountains, which has nothing to do with raleigh itself.

well i think its because we have some of the best malls in the country, college atmospheres and historic sites.

the science and history museums are talked about on there.
