I just trusted the few reviews i saw for the new escort passport 9500i.

i ordered it 10 minutes later for over $500 with the extended service plan off their site.

so its on its way and was wondering if anyone here has experience with it yet and how much of an improvement is it, if any, over my current 8500 x50 (which has saved me too many times to count).

let me know how the 9500 is. i currently have a bel pro rx65. i was looking to upgrade to the bel sti driver but with this new 9500 out i may have to look into that. it seems to do a lot more for the same price, although they are essentially the same company.

if the 8500 works for you, why switch to 9500?

I love the GPS capability of this detector. I have been wondering for years when they are going to do this. They need to start building a database of known and notorious speed traps, and include them in the software. I have also been wondering if they will ever develop detectors that remotely warn other detectors of impending speedtraps. with GPS capability, a person ahead of you could press a 'Police' alert, broadcast it off some frequency with the coordinates, and your GPS alert you of the potential cop if your route is headed that way...

definently a possibility.

i think, but we will have to see how it turns out, escort is going to stay away from making a national database but enable users to access an unofficial site with an entire database.

cant wait to get this fucking thing in.

none...officially

been pulled over for exceeding safe speed limit (about 90 in a 65) and never received a ticket, just a warning.

the old x50 has saved my ass almost everyday, if you don't have a radar detector your an idiot.

if you don't drive like an idiot almost every day, you don't need a radar detector

uhhhh, ok. i think i remember seeing where the number of people who received speeding tickets with radar detectors were higher than those without.

this N00b is talking outta his ass, as evidenced by paying $500 to upgrade to 9500 when he doesn't need to.

i've been working with a company that is doing just that (remote warn). the bigger question is: will anyone pay for it.

it's not going to be cheap. Rf has poor range, SAT is too expensive, there would have to be a lot of units to share/repeat, it could use cell phone tech, but the speed wouldn't be there, etc...
