Gumble and Kellogg are awful...but i still retain my opinion that digger phelps is the worst with his little highlighter-tie gimmick

if you are running toward the hoop and jump from behind the three point line but shoot the ball while you are in the air across the line is it a 3 pointer or 2?

^

If you shoot the ball in the air and your feet were behind the arc when you shot then it's a 3.

i meant if your feet were behind the arc when you jumped, then its a 3, if you shot in the air.

so theoretically, if someone was capable of taking off from the three point line and sailing through the air for a dunk, then it would be a three?

I doubt that scenario is physically possible.

Dunk is probably not possbile, but a short lay-in might be. You'd have to have one heck of a head of steam, though. I always wanted to see this.

carl lewis

a 3pointer is 20 feet from the basket?

the world record longjump is 29 and a half feet.

[Edited on March 17, 2007 at 5:05 PM. Reason : so it is physically possible to layup a 3 but im pretty sure nobody could get high enough to dunk]

Mike Powell. But they would have to start out of bounds on the opposite side of the court, and don't forget that they have to dribble.

or instead of dribbling they could catch a pass right before the jump

the dribbling/catching would take 10 feet off their jump
