next year the RBC center is hosting first and second round games, and regionals are in charlotte. i'm trying to figure out when tickets for those games go on sale.

did a couple searches and didn't find anything.

Word of warning.

I paid $120 apiece for 8 tickets last time the RBC hosted the tourney.

The day of the game those tickets were being sold for $5-$10 apiece outside the RBC

Save your money and buy the tickets the day of the game. No one is going to pay face value for Florida vs Manhattan, Wake vs a scrub team, Duke vs a scrub team, and Arizona vs Seton Hall type games.

On the other hand, tickets were going for $200 PER SESSION (4x face value) when I went to the NCAA tournament in DC. Then again, Maryland was a HUGE draw (won the championship), and there were a decent amount of Michigan State/NC State/UCONN fans there too.

I was very fortunate to find tickets for $100 apiece to the NC State/MSU game and $100 apiece for the UCONN/NC State game...

^ yeah, good point

The email I got said tickets for both sessions were $142 and would be distributed via lottery in June.

If I were you, I'd go get some for less than face value.

I still have that link if you need it (I'm sure some others around here have it too)

well i think it's just a gamble really.

the two scenarios would be if state gets a game at the rbc center and if they don't. i'm thinking that if they do, tickets will be hard to come by and quite expensive if found. if not, then i think it'd be just like you said and they'd be very easy to find under face value.

also, i would probably assume that this would not be the same case for the regionals in charlotte because the sweet 16 and elite 8 rounds would surely be more interesting to everyone.

NC State isnt allowed to play at the RBC.

Even if UNC plays at the RBC tickets just won't be that expensive because the #1 vs #16 matchup just isnt that exciting.

Also, the lottery gave us third level seats. For $40/session we could have gotten awesome seats at every round instead.

And you are correct the Sweet 16/elite 8 is a different story as those games are much more highly anticipated.

ah i didnt realize there was a rule against it.

i may just go for some tickets in charlotte then.

does that rule automatically mean your team can't play close to home if your arena is hosting ncaa games (no matter what seed you are)? like, let's hypothetically say that somehow state got a #1 seed. are they forced to play far away since they can't play in the RBC? and would it be likely that they'd be given a bracket where they'd end up in charlotte if they made the sweet 16?

i'm definitely not anticipating a 1 seed or anything, but i definitely think a 3 or 4 seed is possible. judging by the love louisville got for the early rounds and texas a&m for the regionals, you don't have to be a 1 seed to get "home" crowds.

I talked to a guy today who went to the first round at Joel last Thursday. Bought a ticket outside for $10.

He went again on Saturday and couldn't find anything outside the arena.

i think the rule only says that you only can't play in an arena that you have played more than 3 games in during the season. Other than that, you can play close to home.

and i thought if you were ranked #1 for the men that you could play at home

maybe im mixed it up with the women who can play at their home court anytime, i think.

if unc gets a game at the RBC center next year, State fans should buy up the tickets and root against them

i would probably go if UNC were a 1 seed against the 8-9. it would be awesome to have a bunch of state fans there talking shit the whole time.

then again, their fans would be coming in droves

I got some really good seats in section 104, but I bought them with the intent of selling them

Hopefully UNC or Duke plays here to drive up the price
