The true story of a man (Malkovich) who posed as director Stanley Kubrick during the production of Kubrick's last film, Eyes Wide Shut, despite knowing very little about his work and looking nothing like him. I remember hearing about this film a LONG time ago so im glad to see it finally being released (looks like it was completed in 2005).
Will be showing at Galaxy Cinema starting Friday at (1:00), (3:00), 7:15, 9:15 (Wednesday has no 7:15 showing)

I can't decide between watching this or North by Northwest on Thursday since we are only having it for one week. I'm gonna have a busy week watching movies.

I saw this on Galaxy's website while checking times for Inland Empire. ROFL. When I saw the title I thought it was going to be a biopic, then the poster image loaded. 3/20/2007 8:25:57 AM |

I can't wait to see this. I need to find a theater up here in DC that has it.
PS What's up Neal?

Magnolia Pictures is one of Mark Cuban's companies. He also owns HDNet. They do a "day and date" release of their films (so it's out on DVD, on TV, and in the theaters on the same day).3/24/2007 8:28:56 AM |

Film sucked. I wasn't offended by all the homosexuality, but if I were gay I probably would have been. There was nothing about Kubrick in the film, other than some token 2001/clockwork/shining music thrown into the soundtrack where it really didn't fit. Bryan Adams sings a couple songs for the movie that sound like he really needed a paycheck. I generally enjoy con movies(conmen are facinating people), but this one was the same gag over and over...some vain/idiotic guy lets Malcovich convince him he's Kubrick just by spouting off some trite hollywood lingo. There was never any insight into the conman, or the victim for that matter. It was just a shitty version of The Birdcage, if that tells you anything. The polyester, however, was simply stunning.
The french critics hated it when it came out last year. Maybe french critics aren't so off after all. 3/24/2007 1:24:52 PM |
