Would we have any Idea how good McCauley and Costner are?

They would still be backups at this point, and McCauley might still be getting the garbage time minutes. Then after this year when Brack got drafted for baseball and Ced left for the NBA, we would be feeling unsure and wary about next season, instead of feeling like we will have a great core of young players returning.

In fact we may have missed seeing McCauley start at all in favor of having Hickson start as a freshman next year.

thats a good problem to have though. forget about brackman, mccauley would have earned his PT over him, but simmons would have been a beast.

5) Simmons
4) McCauley/Brack
3) Costner
2) Fells/Grant
1) Engin

Then D-Horn and Nieman off the bench with whichever one of them doesn't start from above.

Wow. What could have been.

[Edited on March 20, 2007 at 12:27 AM. Reason : Brack could have been a better option at point when Engin was hurt than anything we had ]

Well, for one thing practice and games are very different.

Darko Milicic supposedly dominates in practice.

For another thing, I didn't say "Would Lowe and the rest of the coaching staff have any Idea how good McCauley and Costner are?" I said WE, as in the fans.

I think that coach lowe would have taken time to check out his McDonald's all american enough to determine how well he would do in games. Really really REALLY doubt costner would have been still a backup at this point in the season. I am glad you are not our coach

We still wouldn't of had a PG when Engin went down.

I dunno either way, but did anyone see little head ced's time in the game last night? It was pretty sick.

I support this thread. Ferguson is awesome in practice as well. Practice and playing time are two different things. Ben McCauley, more than Costner, would have gotten screwed because we'd be trying to hard to play Brackman, who has none of the post moves that McCauley possesses.

Look I'm not saying we wouldn't have been better THIS SEASON if they had stayed, because we certainly would have.

I'm just trying to take what everyone sees as a negative and put a positive light on it, instead of a huge question mark up front we have a solid and reliable center and a probable pre-season all ACC power forward.

unc-ch fans laugh at our threads like this. They get to play this game just about every year.

Why would they laugh at threads like this?

I see at least 2 on IC every time I go there.

That would be hypocritical of them.

Oh wait... We're talking about UNC fans.

^^ heh, I think he's refering to them laughing at us because we only get to post a thread like this once every 5 years (we get worse recruits) while carolina gets NBA talent who leave early just about every year and can have this conversation all the time.

good thing Carolina doesnt have JR Smith and Marvin Williams still...good thing Duke didnt get Shaun Livingston since he would have balled all over us...hey Chris Paul would still be at Wake if he hadn't left...we wouldn't have swept Wake...hell I think Bosh might've been at G Tech so theres another loss...course UNC would've lost the game earlier in the year to Ohio State since they would've had Lebron

true, but then guys like brandan wright, deon thompson, etc. wouldn't have been able to go there, for a lack of scholarships. Basically whatever they lose, they will get right back.
