busdriver carried the crowd well for a solid 45 mins. that alone made the concert worth while. 3/22/2007 9:32:00 AM |

^^Not particularly. It isn't terrible, but it isn't up to par with his other stuff.
I enjoyed the show, but I would have rather seen busdriver longer. 3/22/2007 12:34:25 PM |

going tonight
excited about busdriver
not so excited about rjd2 after reading the show promos, listening to "the third hand" and you guys' reactions
Quote : | "RJD2 "I've gone rap free in 2006," claimed RJD2 and instead of the sampledelic hip-hop/electronica of previous albums Deadringer and Since We Last Spoke, the new album was recorded with live instrumentation played entirely by RJ himself. He wanted "to make pop music. The same shit everybody listens to: the Beatles, your Led Zeppelins, your Tears for Fears. And there are new groups: Elliott Smith or Dungen or Queens of the Stone Age. These are all groups that I feel make-- at the end of the day-- pop music. They do it with their own flavor and their own thing." But don't get too scared - despite the claim in his interview that Third Hand was a pop album, we're still hearing a lot of hip hop on his new album "The Third Hand" - syncopated drums, clipped vocal coos, and tinkling background electronics. Check out the sound clips below and see what you think. RJ will be performing with a live band as well as his normal 4 turntable + electronics live set. XL recordings.
Busdriver Out of the legendary Project Blowed crew, Busdriver has carved a niche in underground hip hop with unique performance and freestyle skills that combine elements of vocal jazz, theatrics, spoken word, and machine precision with witty and incisive free association lyrics. A frequent collaborator with many of Los Angeles's hip hop elite, Busdriver has worked with Aceyalone, Abstract Rude, Mikah-9, 2Mex, Xololanxinxo, Fat Jack, Daddy Kev, Paris Zax, and Omid. His releases for Celestial, Massmen, Mush and Afterlife, have received glowing praise in The Wire, Muzik, Village Voice, and XLR8R among many others, landing him a spot in Urb's lauded Next 100 as well as getting a ton of critical praise for his latest album on Epitaph.
