Gibson was the key to the game for USC and he was dominating Hansbrough/Unc inside and there was no way USC could win without him. I want to believe the refs don't know this but In the second half every time he was in a situation where a foul could be called the foul was called. I think 3 or 4 of his fouls were touch fouls that didn't seem to be called much on both ends.

This has happened so many games this year with the opposite teams center that I am over the edge of tolerance. I don't think i've ever seen a blocking foul called on Hansbrough and UNC got away with a few moving screens (terrys) while Gibson tripped on his fifth and there was barely contact I can understand why Floyd threw his notes on the floor..

the 3rd foul was WAY worse than the 5th, it just didnt seem as bad situationally at the time so nobody noticed

the 5th foul was almost as bad b/c it came at a time in the game when refs typically let the kids play

regardless of the poor call, floyd lost that game for usc.

he let his guys throw up quick 3-pointers for like 8-10 straight possessions when decent shot selection on 2-pointers would have easily gotten them the lead back. unc had several bad possessions in the final minutes, and usc opted not to capitalize with their horrific shot selection. floyd should have taken control of his team and told them to stop jacking up 3's, and then the technical he got at the end sealed the deal.

i can honestly say that sid wouldn't have let that happen. i'm not guaranteeing that he'd have won the game, but i know that he at least wouldn't have done unc any favors like floyd did.

USC: 13 of their 19 fouls called in 2nd half
UNC: 6 of their 14 fouls called in the 2nd half. First one not until the 11:16 mark, USC had 5 at that point.

I don't think the tech made a difference what the outcome of the game would've been, but it didn't help either.

It was a moving screen, barely, but so are the numerous screens Hansbrough sets where he's side stepping through the whole screen.

it did make a difference. it gave unc another 2 points AND possession with <2 minutes to go.

it mattered. i'm not saying they would have won otherwise and it cost them the game. however, it did take them from slim chance to no chance.

I know that I have a strong anti-UNC bias here, but it really seemed like the fouls were not being called equally both ways last night

biggest thing that tipped me off was when a Trojan player drove the lane and got his shot blocked when he was knocked down in the process by the shot blocker, UNC took the ball down on a fast break and had their shot blocked - when their player didnt get knocked down - and a foul is called on USC

i saw one towards the end when a USC player was shooting a 3 and right after he releases he gets knocked down by miller or frasor. not just knocked down like he was buying a foul, but got landed the fuck on top of by the UNC guy. NO CALL.

Yeah, I got tired of arguing last night over the Officiating...the 2nd half officiating was like OMG are you for real...can they really get away with it?

The coaching did not help, USC was def jacking up shots and dropping the ball every other possession...I literally felt sick to my stomach and got so mad I that I had to take a cold shower to just cool off....

2nd Half was pathetic on so many levels.

This is a telling stat but not surprising in the least bit: GU as a team shot 18 free throws. Hansblow alone shot 16 with Carolina shooting 34 as a team. Just a bit of a discrepancy there.

Review the WVa game where we tossed up 4-5 three pointers in the last 1:30 that weren't even close to going in when 2s would have been perfectly fine and given us a good shot to pull off the win.

That is the only time this season where I have been disappointed in our situational play.

They won't make it out of the first weekend of tourney play next year. Roy's "coaching" consists soley of throwing great athletes on the floor and running the other team into the ground. Lawson, Wright, Ellington, and possibly Hansborough are going to bounce for the NBA, Terry and the goofy white kid (miller) are seniors, as is Qtip (I think).
