I want to buy a used halliburton zero briefcase on ebay and polish it. I dont think they are anodized, more like a clear coat. what would I need to get started? I have several grinders and drills, palm sanders, but no random orbit polisher. what grits of paper or rouge would you start with?

Well if it is annodized you have to remove the anno first, the easiest way to do that is some simple oven cleaner (that what I do to remove the anno from motorcycle fork tubes before polishing)

I found one of those at a thrift shop for $5. It had stickers all over it

The one I have is definitely not anodized. Looks like brushed aluminum with a thin clear coat.

I removed the stickers and then lightly sanded with the 'grain' to make it look half decent. Doesn't look like new but at least the finish is regular now. They take a beating, if you can pick one up for a decent price get it.
