About two years ago, a coworker gave me I'm Wide Awake Its Morning and I was instantly hooked to Connor Oberst's songwriting.

I recently have been delving into his older stuff, and I'm really digging it as well. Some of his songs just get under my skin and give me goosebumps... the catharsis is unreal. Particularly "Padriac my Prince"... song is straight up creepy.

Who else here likes some Bright Eyes? What are your favorite songs that I should download?

The new single "Four Winds" is great. Some of my favorite Bright Eyes songs are: "An Attempt to Tip the Scales", "I Believe in Symmetry", "Bowl of Oranges", "From A Balance Beam", "We are Nowhere and It's Now", "Lua" and the list goes on.

I'm Wide Awake It's Morning is my favorite album of all time. Sadly, it's pretty much the only album of theirs that I like.

Lifted (or the story is in the soil, keep your ear to the ground) is my favorite album. If you haven't downloaded that one, do it.

^^^^Thanks.

I liked that four winds ep ok, but I just cant get into the guys voice. Funny because I love Thom Yorke.

I think Thom Yorke's voice is superior... Connor's voice is much more raw, and I agree, less accessable... but as he says:

"Well I could have been a famous singer
If I had someone else's voice
But failure's always sounded better
Lets fuck it up boys, make some noise!"

Finally got around to listening to 'Cassadaga' today and it sounds really good. Really sounds like it will be a grower. Early highlights are 'Hot Knives', 'Coat Check Dream Song', and 'Lime Tree'.

^ yeah, I really like it a lot too. It's definitely a grower. My favorites are '"If the Brakeman Turns my Way", "Four Winds", and "Lime Tree" To me, it sounds more like a logical extension from Lifted and his earlier albums than it is an extension from Wide Awake and Digital Ashes

Lifted or the Story is in the soil... is still my favorite, far and away. I have the new one, but have yet to listen to it.

i think the new one is really boring and stale sounding, aside from a few songs. it's like "it's wide awake..", but worse
