some of those grow in my yard. I've seen them along river banks. Perhaps they like moist conditions. I just mow them. They seem to be just spring-type weeds but who knows. 3/29/2007 9:58:58 PM |

^ thank you.
the plant in question doens't look like mint, however: everything in the mint family (peppermint, spearamint) have squarish stems.
if you want to check if it's mint, that's easy enough... 3/30/2007 12:36:08 AM |

it looks like a purple deadnettle thats not flowering, its a Lamium sp.
mint family of course, squarish stem, decussate leaf arrangement are dead giveaways even without flowers

go get a herbicide that contains a chemical called 2,4-D. it'll kill the weeds in your yard without killing your grass.

^^No, it doesn't get huge. You're cool, as long as there's some breathing room in there. 3/30/2007 9:14:36 AM |

go to lowes, they have a weed book with a picture of most types of weeds and exactly which brand of weed killer to use on it (most of the time they recommend the bayer weed killer). 3/30/2007 9:56:47 AM |

^^^^no mint is actually rather small, but they spread like crazy so are best in pots. They grow to maybe 1-2 feet in height. Just cut them back halfway and they will grow more leaves. They will come back the next year too if you leave the pots be. 3/30/2007 3:52:54 PM |

Ok i was wrong. It's not mint. I was mowing my moms grass today and she has this shit all in her backyard. She also has mint on the side of the house that she planted a few years back. In the picture it looks a lot like mint but once I was able to look at the stuff in her backyard it looked different than her mint on the side. 3/31/2007 6:24:45 PM |

Why not just break off a pice and SNIFF it. If it's mint, it'd smell like mint.
