I've had a hard time watching Mark Wahlberg since his role in the Departed. He just seemed corny as hell.

I just thought his character in the Departed was cheesy because he managed to curse more than the entire cast combined in the span of about 5 minutes. Who actually talks like that?

Actually I guess the screenwriter is to blame.

^^^^Have you ever met someone that grew up in Southie? His lines and accent were spot on in The Departed.

On topic - The trailers made me think Shooter was nothing special but I may check it out now based on your reviews

Yes, he did. Its a common thing in hostage situations. Basically you, as the hostage taker, tape your hand to the trigger, and the gun to your hostages head . That way, if they shoot you, apparently most of the time your downward fall will make you pull the trigger. Atleast thats the jist of it. Not sure how good those things work, but I suppose good enough to where the cops wont shoot you as the hostage taker if you have that rigged up. However, the arm off with a sniper rifle/disabling the shotgun with a sniper shot, prolly dont factor in too often.

somehow it got about a 7/10 on imdb.com which is fairly strong

I will say its definitely not a corny sniper movie...Wahlberg is basically a badass sniper who retired and the govt wants him back to try and prevent a presidential assassination...surprisingly good so far

i cant remember what movies Donny was in...was he in Basketball Diaries? I know both of their music sucked but 'Good Vibrations' wasnt as bad as some NKOTB crap

solid flick (even though one of my .VOBs had a few issues)

concise synapsis: ex marine pro sniper gets called back into action to stop a presidential assassination...gets betrayed and becomes a patsy...seeks revenge...definitely a good movie

we wondered the same thing when i saw it with my friends. I noticed he was wearing what looked to be bottom braces or a retainer or something. So it may have been that he had dental issues.

some interesting things about this movie that i'm glad didn't happen..
