Scrubs has had nearly everyone from Spin City on, Law and Order SVU has had tons of people from Oz.

any other examples people know of, or anyone know why this happens (same casting director, same producers, or what)?

How I Met Your Mother has featured several people from Buffy/Angel/Firefly: Alyson Hannigan from Buffy is a regular obvious and Alexis Denisof from Buffy/Angel, Tom Lenk from Buffy, Amy Acker from Angel, Morena Baccarin from Firefly, and Harry Groener from Buffy have guest starred. The only reason is that Craig Thomas is a huge Buffy fan.

Also, I believe Frasier, Lilith, Cliff, Norm, and maybe Woody all reprised their Cheers roles on Wings while both were still on the air.

Michael Richards played Kramer on an episode of Mad About You.

On an episode of St. Elsewhere, some of the doctors stopped at Cheers for a drink. Carla bitched them out about something.

^^^^ don't forget the character crossover on Frazier.

Stargate's had a lot of character crossovers which really made both of the shows spin off really well.

yes Richard Belzer has played the same character (detective Munch) in six different prime time tv shows, and is currently the longest-running character on prime time drama television.

Yeah I figured the Frasier/Cheers crossovers were just obvious. If you start talking about spinoffs where a character comes back to reprise their role, youre getting into a huge list.

Another recent one: Mykelti Williamson made an uncredited appearance as his character from Boomtown, Detective "Fearless" Smith, on Jeff Goldblums new show, Raines (both shows were/are produced by Graham Yost, so I think its a safe bet to assume hes the same character, even if his name was unmentioned).

Sadly this list does not include Keifer Sutherland appearing on Alias or Jennifer Garner appearing on 24...could have been the greatest crossover ever .

i've noticed a lot of extras (patients in the main story line, one or 2 episode nurses and doctors) on ER have recurring roles in other WB productions.

Lost has had pretty much the entire cast of Deadwood on (although I don't watch Deadwood, so I can't really give you names).

Oh, and Lisa Kudrow originally played a character called Ursala on Mad About You, so when they cast her for Friends they wrote in the twin sister thing so she could be on both shows. One episode, Helen Hunt wanders into that coffee shop and mistakes her for the character she played on Mad About You.
