there are numerous options, depending on what kind of fan you are.

Some arguments include:

Right after the College Basketball season is over with
- no more college basketball
- no football of any kind
- The NBA sucks
- Who cares about MLB

Right after the NFL season is over with:
- The "No more NFL playoff" hangover
- No College football
- No Baseball
- The NBA wont matter until playoff time, ~3 months from now.

But my personal opinion:

Right after the NBA playoffs are over with:
- The hockey playoffs ended as well
- No college football
- No college basketball
- No NFL for a few more months
- Baseball is right in the middle of a very long season
- No MAJOR sporting events other than Wimbledon, the US open (Golf), and the MLB all star game for the next month and a half.

Got any other really bad times of the year for sports fans?

yea, July sucks

I'm a Braves fan in baseball but I can't watch all those damn games. Now if MLB and NBA had maybe half the number of games per season, that would be interesting.....

too bad that will never happen

Option 2. Right after the NFL season is over.

As long as there's baseball I'm happy.

Why do people make threads like this every year. Yeah some people hate baseball, so the fuck what. Some people like baseball, me included. I do not find really anytime during the year that boring for sports.

I LOVE some NC State baseball....

more than my favorite MLB team...

Late October/ Early November.

Baseball just ended, too early to care too much about the NBA/NHL, and I'm not a big NFL fan other than the Jets (and they're never on out here). The only saving grace is college football.

The best is April/May. Baseball just starting and the NBA/NHL playoffs. The only shitty part is the god awful time leading up to the NFL Draft. There isn't a more boring topic in sports. Listening to Clayton do mock drafts and arguing with Jaworski 3 hours a night is worse than banging my head into a concrete wall over and over.

right after the ncaa bball championship until the beginning of the nba playoffs (now)

and

right after the nba championship game until start of college football

basically the whole summer minus the nba playoffs.

End of the NBA Finals to the NFL Preseason (NFL Preseason sucks, but it is better than just regular season MLB, and is at least an appetizer to the NFL and College Football season.

Option #2 is wrong. College basketball starts up before college football ends, you have an overlap.

I'd go with your choice #3.

For most people it's when there's only baseball. It's a conspiracy to get us to go outside and be active in the summer. I don't think it works for everyone though.

Sure it is specific but on those days there isn't even baseball on... Sportscenter literally has nothing to talk about.

^yeah and i remember hearing that those are the only 2 days where none of the 4 major US leagues have any games

however i think on occasion there is an extra day or two throughout the year where there are no events

but you're wrong saying Sportscenter has nothing to talk about...they just talk about the All Star Game!

I'd go with right after the Masters. I havent watched sportscenter in 3 days.... I think thats a record. Of course if the Hurricanes were still playing hockey this would be a great time of year. Baseball season is great but doesnt get interesting until june.

^Its the day after the allstar game where there are no major sporting events including golf and tennis. Like a tuesday in july, right? I think thats the only day where there are no scheduled events in any particular year unless every couple of years there is a fluke day here or there.

in general when it's only baseball, I don't hate baseball, but I think it's boring to watch more than a few innings unless you are there in person. But more specifically:

Quote :
"The days before and after the MLB all-star game when there is no sport (that matters) being played at all."

Is terrible, they should just shut ESPN down for those few days, because sportscenter is totally unwatchable.

rflong and MyM410, you guys are paranoid.

The thread wasnt made to diss baseball, it was made to ask for people's thoughts on the most boring time of the sports year.

Its not my fault alot of people on here dislike baseball. I love the NFL, but if you said it was a boring time of the year, then as you say...

i would say there really isnt a boring time in sports. In the fall you get college football and playoff baseball, the winter comes with bowl games and college basketball, spring rolls around with march madness and the start of baseball and then all summer long is baseball. All fun for me to watch

i agree with this. i like baseball, but baseball season up until the playoff hunt isnt nearly as exciting (for me) as other sports. i wouldnt call it boring, but it relation to other times during the year, its the most boring.

Right after the NHL Playoffs end. Other than the NFL Draft there's really nothing sports-related for me to watch until the NFL preseason. Sure there's some recruiting ticks here and there, contract negotiations are kinda fun, but other than that the only reasons to tune into ESPN are for Worlds Strongest Man competitions and Pool tournaments, both of which are in constant repeats...

last night was great. watched pens/senators, hopped on the ice and made 42 saves, took a shower, and watched the last five periods of canucks/stars

never a dull moment

wow what a bunch of sports pussies

football sucked this year for ncsu, but it was fine watching the chargers each weeks.

basketball was unexpectedly exciting as hell for ncsu

hockey was eh for the hurricanes, but had a couple thrillers to end the season so it was fun for a couple weeks

now baseball... can't ask for anything more than my braves starting out 7-1. looks like some more exciting nights on the couch eating snacks and soda. *I still hate that glavine that traitor went to the mets. I will never get over that. I thought he and smoltz would never leave atlanta.. oh wells.

tennis season will pick up this summer with /wimbledon/french/ us open which are always fun

then its football again... yay

looks like another fun year ahead for sports...

just as a sidenote for some of the baseball apologists/defenders in this thread:

lots of people like baseball, myself included

but lots of people like more sports than just baseball

hence i like when basketball and baseball are both going on...or football and baseball are both going on

after the nhl playoffs are over b/c:

1. my fav-college bball is long over
2. no football of any kind (college or nfl)
3. no hockey left
4. i dont give a shit about the nba anyway
5. baseball games such to watch on tv.
6. golf and racing are the only things on on sunday afternoon, and both put me to sleep to watch on tv.
