so let me get this straight bigman...u can save files in openoffice's version of spreadsheet as an excel file, but you cant save a base file as an access file?...is that what u are saying?

and it's saying you can go from access to openoffice, but not the reverse

Free, has access as one of the programs you can use. I know it doesn't solve your current problem, but in the future maybe you won't have to use open office for it.
