I say let them show up since they do have the right to protest.

However, if there is an event on the VT campus, the city police should give the VT police temporary jurisdiction of the entire town. Then they should set up a designated protest spot way the hell off to some remote corner of town where no one is around. I know with any kind of political event they have a designated protest zone that is set up to protect the protesters and the people at the event. They should do the same thing and say that it's for the benefit of the idiots of WBC, because if they show up anywhere near the campus things will get nasty fast.

That way they don't get to sit up on a soapbox for 3 hours on a nationally aired radio program and they will get the treatment they deserve - to be completely ignored. They have learned that they can bully their way around to get their ridiculous messages heard by saying they are going to protest some sensitive event.
