does anybody have any advice on brands/methods/ideas to level the front end on the aforementioned truck. Im going to start playing around with it some and I would like to get a little lift in the front to fit some larger wheels and tires. This will not be a hardcore off road truck and I would like to retain as much of the ride and handling characteristics as possible.

^ um, no, crank the torsion bars up all the way, it will give you about 1.5", just make sure to get it realigned, it will throw off your camber and caster angles

i have 285/75s on it now and they fit fine i was thinkin something in the 295 or 305 range i know you can get an inch or so from the torsion bars i was just wondering if those kits out there that claim 2-3 inches are true to their word

305/70 R16s will fit fine with a 3" body lift, ~$120 and an afternoon of work, and cranking up the front torsion bars, here are some pics of mine from back in the day with exactly that

i need to take some more pics now with 8" front 6" rear suspension lift, 37x12.50's and that ballin ass ladder rack

Shit, so that's your truck.

That damn thing looks like it's ten feet tall.

8'3" actually

and that is a good damn truck to hang onto, i have always driven chevy's with the only problem being the tie rod ends and idler arm, they go out like the plague, the last two went over 200k miles with no problems, totalled the first, and the second was stolen, my 01 has 198k miles with the original engine, including water pump, alternator, compressor, etc., tranny, and axles

I will attest to this, that truck runs pretty damn strong for 200K.

305's won't work well on factory rims. you can squeeze them on, but they're a little too wide. get some 16x8's with a touch less backspacing and they should fit.

^^ indeed, the stock 16x6.5s look retarded but work ok, 16x8 with 4.5" backspacing are perfect
