If you've ever coached or played football, been in the press, or just been a fan for a while you know... if you're on the sidelines you WILL get hit. It's just a matter of time. I'm not saying civilians and even kids in general should be banned from the sidelines... but a 4 year-old? His parents should have needed a rule to tell them that was a bad idea.

the family and player were on the today show this morning. it was a spring game and shit happens. the family's not suing the school and there's no hard feelings. they might tighten up were people can stand but that's about it.
