if you are running it on a PC, it isnt worth the upgrade

on a mac, its DEFINITELY worth the upgrade.

photoshop has some VERY nice enhancements, and you get the new Camera Raw engine which his MUCH improved over the old version. I don't care too much what inDesign and the other programs have in terms of enhancements, but photoshop is the main reason I'll be getting Design Premium. I could use a new version of Dreamweaver, inDesign, Acrobat, etc, but Photoshop is the main reason I'll be spending the money.

no longer a state student so I have to go through other means. and I doubt the book store would have design premium for $300. Maybe the academic version of one program, but not the bundles.

Please do tell, I tried the beta and found it to just be a slightly re-arranged CS2. And CS2 didn't add a whole lot from CS. CS was a HUGE leap though.

And yes, the premium bundle will be at the bookstore for $299, just like all the previous premium bundles have been.

Also, FYI, if you are a student and get an educational copy, as soon as you graduate it becomes a full retail, commercial license.

the new align images/layers is much quicker and better, better hdr, better 16/32bit support, ACR, smart selection tool, ... A lot of these will make my work a lot quicker and in the end save me money/time. It will be nice to be able to integrate the different programs better and avoid constant converting between file formats.


Also, going back to the pricing, Academic Superstore is a hair cheaper on full boxed products, compared to just licenses, at least when looking at stuff on NCSU's bookstore. Both fall within a few dollars of Adobe's Educational store prices.

The bookstore website has been wrong for about 5 months. Don't go by those prices. Also, the education licenses at the bookstore are useable on all machines you own. They're not single machine licenses unless purchased by a group (ie campus department.) Furthermore, the bookstore doesn't carry boxed copies of adobe software anymore. There's absolutely no point in doing so. The "full" boxed products don't have any more features and often don't even have print manuals and cost a lot more. Even so, manuals are available on disc in pdf format (a far more searchable medium anyways.)

just isntalled Dreamweaver, Flash, Fireworks and Photoshop CS3....WOW is all i got to say....i love it. All the shit that bugged me about each has been addressed.

A few of the CS3 changes bother me, mainly the cursor designs on a few functions, but I imagine that can be changed in settings somewhere.

I really like the new version of Bridge though.

These prices are a bit better than those online places (a few hundred or so on some items.) They should be in sometime later this week, but Adobe likes to jerk people around on ship times for education special-contract licensing. The NCSU Bookstores are an authorized general education reseller for all of NC for Adobe products. the only error i ever experienced is fixed from 8 to cs3 on Vista and that was it never stored username and passwords for ftp servers

how not? templates might be the only thing that is dreamweaver specific. and thats just a few snipits of code that designate editable areas.

in stock yet at the bookstore? And are the student only prices for a boxed product, not just a dvd and a serial number? I tend to misplace cds that don't have a box.

None of those have boxes. The boxed copies are about 200 more for the respective versions. Since it's stupid to pay 200 bucks for a box, they're not going to be carried. Some stuff came in tuesday. If you really want something, you should place an order and they'll hold you a copy. New versions of software like this come in and run out almost immediately since the distributer severely limits the rate at which they supply the store.

They're in a movie-style dvd case with a pretty cover though, if that matters.

very nice to work with. I really like the new workspace options in photoshop. The smart objects and smart filters are awesome to work with.

yup yup, just got it for work and definitely love it compared to CS. Kinda funny how you can upgrade CS to CS3 and skip CS2. But you have to buy a "special" upgrade on Adobe's website and only offered through them. It's only 200 bucks more then the regular upgrade from CS2 to CS3. Saved a bundle after we figured that since we only had CS premium, CS photoshop and CS Illustrator with only one set of CS2 upgrades (that leaves us with 2 ppl using CS and 1 using CS2..., was a pain the ass). Might have to buy the CS3 for myself.
